Northbridge History Project

Introduction

Northbridge occupies a significant portion of central Perth. A fascinating and complex area, it has been home to nearly fifty different nationalities and ethnic groups. From Aboriginal occupation of the area to the post-Second World War waves of migration, the area has reflected the growth and changes in the state. Generational change meant that knowledge of this history was at risk.

The Northbridge History Project is consulting with government, communities and individuals in Northbridge and working with them to collect the history of Northbridge.

Oral histories, photographs, documents, film and other sources are being gathered and will be stored electronically. These electronic sources are available to the public via the Electronic Archive. The journey of collecting the histories of the area is not yet complete. If you are interested in contributing to the Project or would like more information, please register your interest or contact us.
